FIFA will provide $408,000 to the ANFA for upgrading ANFA House at ANFA Complex under FIFA Goal Project-II.[break]
The Chief of the FIFA Goal Project-Asia and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Vice President Manilal Fernando accompanied by Vision Asia Development Officer, Chrysthantha Perera, announced the project amidst a press conference at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, on Monday.
Fernando said they were extending the support for upgrading the ANFA complex. "We are funding this amount to ANFA House," Fernando said adding, "We want our member associations being capable of providing all sort of facilities to its players. And the ANFA needs bigger house with all necessary utilities to camp the national players."
As said by Fernando, the upgraded house will have big auditorium, computers, proper canteens, proper water and sanitation system and other materials.
Meanwhile, FIFA has also approved the KC Construction, a construction group of Bhaktapur, for upgrading the ANFA House as proposed by ANFA.
"FIFA technical officer will arrive in Nepal within a week to sign the contract with KC construction and finalize everything," Fernando said adding, "The construction will begin on October and finish within six months."
He also assured that Nepal will be given Goal-III project if the construction work will finish by March 2011.
Nepal is the only South Asian nation to get the project.
Angels´ Heart win
Angels´ Heart, Mount Glory and Baba Boarding registered wins in girl´s section on Monday in the Fifth Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament at the hosts´ court in Golfutar. Angels´ Heart defeated Forward 28-10 riding on 19 points of Iva Malla. Mount Glory had a narrow 12-11 win over Vishnumati. Sunita scored 12 the points for winning side. Manura Phulama contributed 11 points for Baba as they edged past Pathsala Nepal 16-4.
New Shrine, Daffodil, Golden Peak and Pathsala Nepal won their respective matches under boy´s category. New Shrine beat Angels´ Heart 33-26. Yountan Lama netted eight points for New Shrine. Golden Peak hammered Vishnumati 50-13 with 21 points from Rakesh Shrestha. Pathsala beat Mount Glory 21-19. Shreejwal scored nine points for Pathsala.
Shotokan reshuffled
National Sports Council has reshuffled the Nepal Shotokan Karate Association on Monday under the chairmanship of Hemkumar Shrestha. Pramila Singh and Deepak Ranjit are the vice presidents of the reshuffled 20-member committee. Arun Ranjit and Deep Rai are the secretary and joint secretary while Radheshyam Khadka is the treasurer.
Similarly, Kiran Prasad Shrestha, Rajendra Babu Shrestha, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Ranjan Prakash Shrestha, Prassanata Wasti, Raju Silwal, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, Trilochan Krishna Shrestha, Shiva Prasad Rijal, Rajesh Bikram Shahi, Jalad Raj Baidhya, Kumar Gurung, Surendra Lamsal and NSC representative are the members of the committee.
Young Hearts win
Young Hearts School on Monday registered double victories in the 10th Wilson Valley-wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament (Wilson Hoops). Under senior boy´s category, Young Hearts thrashed Delight 43-15, Nabang Norbu netted 12 points for Young Hearts and in junior boy´s category, they had a narrow 25-22 win over New Zenith. Karma Tenzing contributed 19 points for the winning side.
In other matches under junior boys category, Neric and Gyan Niketan emerged victorious. Neric beat the hosts Wilson 26-24 and Gyan Niketan saw off Rupy´s International 27-8. Anil Chalise scored 11 for Neric and Asutos Sharma contributed six points for Gyan Niketan. In girl´s category, NIMS and Teresa won their respective matches. NIMS coasted Wilson 28-12 riding on 15 points of Sarita and Teresa hammered Sunrise 56-5. Sarita Tamang score 14 points for Teresa.
