Fewa festival to take place in Pokhara from next week

KATHMANDU, April 4: The Fewa New Year Festival, 2081 BS is to take place in Pokhara, Kaski from April 11 with the slogan 'tourism, culture and food'. 


At a press conference organized here today by the Hotel Association Pokhara, it was informed that various programs, including promotion of indigenous and traditional food, cultural processions, duet folk songs and tourists' marathon competition and tourism promotional activities would be organized in the three-day festival.

The organizers have clarified that there would be no charge for the participants while taking part in the recreational programs to be organized in around 3.5 kilometers from Damside Chowk to Khahare Chowk of Pokhara. 


Likewise, Association Pokhara Chairperson Laxman Subedi said that the Pokhara-based hotels have decided to waive the service charge by 20 percent during the festival time. 


Chairperson Subedi said altogether 300,000 tourists, including domestic and foreign are expected to visit the festival taking place under the 19th edition. 


On the occasion, Hotel Association Nepal Chair Binayak Shah shared that mutual cooperation and collaboration was taking place with all concerned sides, including the three tiers of government to make the festival grand. 


It was shared that around 25 hotel entrepreneurs of Pokhara have been displaced and around 500,000 have lost their employment in a direct or indirect manner following the COVID-19 outbreak.
