Far west experiencing continuous tremor jolts

BAITEDI, June 30: The far western hilly districts have been facing continuous jolts of earthquake since Wednesday. So far, the Seismological Center in Surkhet has recorded 21 jots of quake as of this afternoon.

BAITEDI, June 30: The far western hilly districts have been facing continuous jolts of earthquake since Wednesday. So far, the Seismological Center in Surkhet has recorded 21 jolts of quake as of this afternoon.


An earthquake measuring 3.4 in the Richter scale was recorded at 4:32 Thursday morning following by another of 3.8 Richter scale at 7:00 am, 2.8 Richter scale at 12.07 pm and two more of smaller scales. On Wednesday alone, 16 jolts were recorded.

These were fresh tremors and not aftershock of the Gorkha earthquake of April 25, 2015, Chief of National Seismological Center in Kathmandu Lok Bijaya Adhikari said. He however said that jolts of lesser scale following an earthquake of above 5 Richter scale was obvious and there was not need to be afraid of it.


The local administration has meanwhile appealed to all to remain alert and be prepared for any eventuality of a quake. RSS
