VDC Secretaries Welfare Protection Centers in Khotang and Okhaldhunga disclosed that the group has demanded Rs 200,000 from each of the 76 VDCs in Khotang and 56 in Okhaldhunga. “All the VDCs have received letters demanding Rs 200,000,” a VDC secretary in Khotang said.
The VDC secretaries claimed that two separate factions led by Bibash Bidrohi and Navin Kiranti are demanding donations for the party. Samyukta Jatiya Morcha and other underground outfits are also demanding donations.
Khotang President of the VDC Secretaries Welfare Protection Center Ramesh Acharya said the VDC secretaries are feeling insecure following threats from the ethnic outfits. “The secretaries have not been able to return to the villages,” said Acharya.
Chief of Okhaldhunga police DSP Ram Kripal Sah also said he had no knowledge of the donation drive.
