KATHMANDU, March 8: Chairman of the main opposition party CPN-UML and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that everyone has remained silent even as the country’s foreign relations and economy are collapsing.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 5th National General Convention of the Human Rights Alliance in Pokhara on Tuesday, he accused those who were ‘creating a scene over trivial matters’ during his term of remaining silent even as the economy collapsed and foreign relations deteriorated.

"Intellectuals who blamed the Oli government over trivial matters under our government have remained silent even as the current government destroys international relations and the economy," he said. “Let's assume nothing is wrong,” he said.

“Those who would make a scene and cry, beating their chests, as soon as something small happened are not speaking now,” commented Oli.

Chairman Oli called CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal a scoundrel. Without mentioning the name of Nepal, he said, “After splitting they named themselves socialists.” He said that they would not follow the name of fashion but would follow meaning and transformation.

He accused the government of forming the current government of the country with the help of local and foreign powers. "The UML believes in guaranteeing rights in a modern, scientific way, and is striving to ensure that no one is left in poverty, deprivation or insecurity," he said.
