Eighth SAFF in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Nepal will hosting the Eighth SAFF Championship, the biggest men´s football festival of South Asian Region. The decision came during executive committee meeting of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) on Sunday.



The proposal for hosting the upcoming edition of tournament was endorsed unanimously, goalnepal.com quoted ANFA President Ganesh Thapa as saying. According to Thapa, Nepal proposed the tournament either in September or December 2013. [break]



The opening edition of SAFF Championship was held in Nepal in 1997. India (1999 and 2011) and Bangladesh (2003 and 2009) are the only nations to hold the event twice. India has won the title five times.
