Eighth National Games: 5,211 athletes competing for 1,307 medals

KATHMANDU, March 31: A total of 5,211 athletes are competing for 1,307 medals in the eighth National Games taking place at different places of state 5 from coming April 18.

KATHMANDU, March 31: A total of 5,211 athletes are competing for 1,307 medals in the eighth National Games taking place at different places of state 5 from coming April 18. 


The National Sports Council (NSC) informed that 5,211 athletes were participating in 35 games in a week long championship. Of them, 2,825 are men and 2,386 women athletes.

There are 327 gold, 372 silver and 563 bronze medals for the winners in the championship. An athlete competing in the individual category would get Rs 15,000 while Rs 7,000 to each athlete competing in the in group category. 


Similarly, Rs 25,000 would be provided to the players breaking national records in the championship. Six hundred forty team coaches and 461 team managers would be mobilized in the National Games. 


Thirty-five different games including football, athletics, boxing, weight lifting, table tennis, cricket, swimming, shooting, volleyball, taekwondo, basketball, paragliding, golf, chess and body building would be held in the National Games. There would be participation of 1,393 national and international referees. 


A total of 10,000 people including athletes, officials, referees and juries are attending the Games. RSS
