KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The Election Commission (EC) has asked for clarification from six candidates for the upcoming local level by-elections for their activities contrary to the Election Code of Conduct.
The EC has demanded an explanation from the candidates after they were found by a monitoring team from the commission to have conducted election activities contrary to the election code of conduct on Thursday night. The candidates, who were asked for an explanation are from Kirtipur Municipality and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)-16.

The candidates, who were asked for the explanation include Raj Man Maharjan, Min Bahadur Manandhar, Shiva Sharan Maharjan, Sam Shakya, Rojina Shrestha and Pashupati Kathayat from Kirtipur Municipality.
Raj Man Maharjan is an independent candidate for the position of Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, while Shiva Sharan Maharjan is a candidate for the Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality from the Maoist Center. Similarly, Min Bahadur Manandhar is a candidate for the ward chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.
Kathayat and Shakya are also independent candidates of KMC-16. Similarly, Rojina Shrestha is a candidate for the KMC-16 on behalf of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
