KATHMANDU, July 11: The Election Commission (EC) has prepared a draft of its 4th Strategic Plan 2023/24 after reviewing the strategic plans for election management until now.

The EC collected suggestions from the general public on the draft via a public notice.

A five-year plan was implemented from the fiscal year 2009/10 with the aim of empowering and strengthening the commission for clean, independent, fair, inclusive and credible elections based on the Constitution of Nepal, election management laws and international standards.

Currently, a third periodic strategic plan is under implementation. Raghuram Bista, spokesperson for the EC, said that the draft was formulated based on the experience gained from the implementation of the strategic plans so far, as well as through discussions, analysis, reviews and interactions with political parties and other stakeholders.

The EC has sought suggestions to be submitted to the EC Secretariat by July 22 to further fine-tune the draft.
