Duwakot now open defecation free zone

BHAKTAPUR, April 20: One more village in Bhaktapur has been declared the open-defecation free zone. Duwakot Village Development Committee was declared a village free from open defecation amidst a program here Saturday.



With this, the number of open-defecation free villages has reached five in the district. Earlier, Katunje, Balkot, Sudal and Jhaukhel were declared the zones free from open defecation.



Secretary at the Ministry of Local Development Shanta Bahadur Shrestha was present at the program held under the campaign of making the entire Bhaktapur district free from open defecation by 2013 AD.



VDC Secretary Ram Prasad Panthi said earlier of 458 households in the village, 137 had no toilets. Now, all the houses in the village have toilets, he said.
