The locals came out to the streets calling for action against the murderers of Radha Kumara Kamat, a local who was murdered 25 days ago.
Police resorted to lathicharge and lobbed tear gas shells to bring the crowd under control after the protestors vandalized vehicles including ambulances.
Bijaya Chaudhary, 25, and Jalil Rain, 55, of Duhabi-8 had sustained serious bullet injuries in the police firing on Sunday.
Rain has returned home after receiving treatment at the Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital while Chaudhary has been sent to Siliguri, India, for further treatment from the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Security situation has been beefed up after the demonstrations.
However, the agitating locals are learnt to have postponed the protests after the administration´s call for talks.It is said that Kamat was murdered by local Irphan Miya and her lover Sabnam Khatun.
