DRI files case against Cotiviti Nepal on charge of revenue leakage; seeks to recover Rs 10.36 billion

KATHMANDU, March 31: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has filed a case against Cotiviti Nepal Pvt Ltd, on charge of revenue leakage, seeking to recover Rs 10.36 billion from the company.

KATHMANDU, March 31: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has filed a case against Cotiviti Nepal Pvt Ltd, on charge of revenue leakage, seeking to recover Rs 10.36 billion from the company.


Nawa Raj Dhungana, director general of the DRI, said it was one of the largest amounts that the department has slapped against a business entity. The Nepali company run by Cotiviti Inc, USA, has been accused of evading income tax and value added tax.

According to Dhungana, the company was found evading taxes worth Rs 5.18 billion, while an equivalent amount has been fined for the misconduct. Cotiviti Nepal is a foreign direct investment company working in the information technology sector.
