Dragonair gave away top travel agent awards to five different companies, while three companies bagged the awards for top cargo agent. Likewise, one company was given the award for best business class supporting agent.
The awards were given away by Dragonair´s Regional General Manager Tom Wright, its Manager for Bangladesh and Nepal Rick Symington, Sales and Marketing Manager for India, Nepal and Bangladesh Rakesh Raicar, and Dragonair GSA Chairman Sidhartha Rana, at a function organized in Kathmandu.
Speaking on the occasion, Wright reiterated Dragonair´s commitment to the Nepal market and said "Studies were underway to increase capacity to Kathmandu as demand continues to outweigh supply."
Dragonair currently operates three flights every week to Hong Kong from Kathmandu.

NBL launches ATM service
KATHMANDU, May 8: Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) has launched ATM service from Friday. With the start of the service, the NBL customers can now enjoy the facility through 247 ATMs and 1,400 point of sales (POS) of the SCT network across the country and 1,000 ATMs in India, says a statement issued by the bank on Friday.
Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Bir Bikram Rayamajhi inaugurated the service at Dharmapath, one of the three points where NBL has installed its own ATMs. The other two ATMs are in Kantipath and Lazimpat.
Narahari Dhakal, coordinator of NBL Management Committee, said the start of ATM service marks the bank´s major shift towards offering modern banking facilities to its customers. “We will expand the service in the coming days,” said he.
Dr Binod Atreya, chief executive officer of NBL, said the bank will install an additional 20 machines by the next mid-July. The bank also aims to issue 100,000 ATM cards within six months.
JBB to issue rights shares for promoters
KATHMANDU, May 8: The first annual general meeting of Jyoti Bikash Bank (JBB), a national-level development bank, has decided to issue rights share in a ratio of 1:1 to its promoters.
The AGM concluded in the capital in the first week of May has also decided to increase the paid-up capital and amend prospectus and regulations of the bank. The meeting also elected six directors in the board for the tenure of next four years, said a press release.
On the occasion, the bank also unveiled a new saving account scheme named ´Jyoti Baal Kalyan Bachat Khata´ for children. According to the release, the account can be opened at Rs 1,000 and the bank has promised interest return at an annual rate of seven percent.
JBB has also announced a plan to open two new branches. Currently, it has four branches. Over the duration of a year, the bank has mobilized deposits of Rs 470 million, issued loans of Rs 450 million and earned Rs 1.1 million profit, the release stated.
