KATHMANDU, Dec 13: Dr. OM Foundation has distributed blankets to 350 families of underprivileged communities in Balwa Municipality of Mahottari. Blankets have been distributed to Musahar, Chamar and Dusad communities living in the municipality as well as other poor families to protect them from the cold.
During a program held on Friday, Abhay Singh and Ajit Singh distributed blankets on behalf of the foundation. According to the foundation, more blankets will be distributed as needed.
The blankets were purchased from the funds collected from the sale of the book ‘Jiwanta Sambandha’ written by Dr Om Murti Anil, the founder of the foundation.
Municipality distributes blankets
Dr Om Murti said, “I wrote a book called Jiwanta Sambandha based on my relationship with my father. Blankets have been distributed while spending the entire amount earned from the sale of books on social work.”
Stating that this is just our small initiative, aimed at providing some warmth to the families sitting in the cold winter, the author and physician Dr Om Murti said that all the full credit goes to the readers of the book ‘Jiwanta Sambandha’ as the entire investment in this initiative is from the readers. He further said, “The foundation and I are just mediums for doing social work. The merit gained from this will go to all the readers.”
The foundation also plans to spend funds received from the sale of books in the fields of health, education and social transformation. In mid-November, the foundation conducted a free heart health camp for five days in Dr Om Murti's birthplace, Dhamora, and conducted health check-ups of over 600 people.
The foundation, which has been organizing free health camps and conducting various awareness activities related to health, has stated that it is in the final stages of preparing to provide scholarships to underprivileged and deserving students, with the aim of representing all regions of the country.
