Dr Manish Thapa has a history of playing a significant role in fostering diplomatic ties between Nepal and Costa Rica. His efforts included facilitating a high-level official visit by the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Costa Rica in October 2018 while serving as a professor at the United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) in Costa Rica. This visit substantially contributed to the strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
