KATHMANDU, Dec 6:  Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has undergone angioplasty at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center in Bansbari. In mid-October, when he was on a visit to the People’s Republic of China, he had an acute myocardial infarction in the heart, necessitating an emergency coronary angiography at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital in China. An obstruction was found in the Obtuse Marginal branch.


In the examination conducted during the treatment of Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha, it was reported that there was some blockage in the other artery of the heart. He was admitted to the hospital last night after feeling slight discomfort in his heart.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, a team including Dr Arun Maskey performed 'angioplasty' last night, clearing the obstruction in the artery. The hospital said that DPM Shrestha, who is in the intensive care unit, is normal and stable. According to the doctor, he will be kept in the hospital for three to five days.


Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal reached the hospital and inquired about the health condition of DPM Shrestha. According to DPM Shrestha's secretariat, there was also a general conversation between them.
