KATHMANDU, Dec 24: It has been one month since the reopening of Dharahara with an entry fee. During this period, Rs 5.5 million has been collected from ticket sales. The Dharahara, which was opened to the public with an entry fee starting November 24, has generated this amount by yesterday, (Monday), from ticket sales.
Acting Project Director for Dharahara operation Prakash Aryal said that Dharahara will be closed every Wednesday, and around 1,200 people climb the Dharahara daily on other days.

“Since November 24, over 31,000 citizens have climbed the Dharahara. However, the data of children under 12 years of age has not been recorded,” he said, “The arrangement for climbing Dharahara has been made from 10:30 am to 3 pm. A significant number of citizens have been observed during this short time. Recently, tourists from neighboring countries have also been visiting Dharahara.”
The fee for climbing Dharahara has been set at Rs 200 per person. However, students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities can climb the Dharahara at a 50 percent discount. Similarly, the fee for the tourists arriving from SAARC countries has been fixed at Rs 500 and Rs 1000 per person for visitors from non-SAARC countries.
Dharahara has come into operation by charging a fee as per the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2081. The cabinet meeting on November 21 had decided to open the Dharahara and approve the fee.
The parking fees on the Dharahara premises have been set at Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 per hour for two-wheelers. An entry fee of Rs 50 has also been fixed for accessing the Dharahara premises. For displaying national advertisements on the Dharahara tower, the fee is Rs 5,000 per hour. Meanwhile, commercial video shooting is set at Rs 5,000 per hour, and photography at Rs 1,000 per hour.
