DFTQC grilled 64 food producers in the first nine months of the current FY

KATHMANDU, May 10:The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) filed cases against 64 companies from across the country on charge of selling substandard foods in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, May 10:The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) filed cases against 64 companies from across the country on charge of selling substandard foods in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

According to a DFTQC record, it took action against 13 companies each related to dairy products and legumes and nine companies related to bottled water. The rest were related to producing tea, honey and edible oil, among others. 


Mohan Krishna Maharjan, Spokesperson of the DFTQC, said 141 out of 2,671 specimens collected during mid-July 2021 and mid-April 2022, were found to be defective. According to him, the department filed cases at the concerned District Administration Offices and District Courts.
