KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Driver Amar Thapa of the Department for International Development (DFID) Nepal was driving a 60-0-27 Toyota on Friday which hit a black Mercedes (Ba 18 Cha 8777) at around 9:50 am.

“The DFID car bumped into our car when there was clearly a lot of space on the other side of the road,” said Shyam Tamang, who was driving the Mercedes.  DFID Nepal driver Thapa hit the black Mercedes and tried to run away but was forced to stop after a while. Jawalakhel police station reviewed a video of the accident and asked DFID to repair the Mercedes.

Tamang told Republica that Thapa was unwilling to accept his mistake at the beginning. "The DFID driver told that his organization would pay for the damages and that accidents are natural.”

According to Tamang, DFID's driver, instead of sorting out the issue, tried to rush the blue plate car. The police asked DFID Nepal to bear the expenses of repairing the Mercedes car.
