KATHMANDU, Sept 23: The Democracy Fair 2018 which started from Thursday at Basantapur to celebrate Nepal's stride in democracy as well as to discuss on the issues related to democracy has concluded on Saturday.
A total of four panel discussions under an international seminar were conducted at the fair where various dignitaries from Nepal and aboard discussed about multiple aspects of democracy. The panel discussions were held on the themes of 'Women in politics', 'Democracy in 21st century', 'Exemplary constitutional exercise and law making processes' and 'Federal democracy and power summarization in 21st century'.
No one should dream of going against democracy: PM Deuba
Top-notch political leaders from Nepal delivered keynote speeches and discussed on various issues of democracy at the seminar. Two-time prime minister and current chairperson of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former home minister and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Bimalendra Nidhi, conveyor of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) presidium Mahantha Thakur and Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Upendra Yadav of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) delivered keynote speeches during the seminar.
Panelists at the international seminar included former danish minister Rasmus Helveg Petersen, Kenyan National Assembly member Francis Kuria Kimani, Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom Stephen Genthins, NC parliamentarian Minendra Rijal and NCP parliamentarian Parshuram Meghi Gurung.
Various political parties of Nepal including NCP, NC, RJPN, FSPN set up stalls at the fair to propagate their party philosophies and histories.
