DOLAKHA, Feb 17: Dolakha DDC has been spending around Rs 100,000 per month on fuel for two jeeps and a motorcycle for the past six months, hinting at irregularity in fuel spending.

Accounts section of the DDC said Rs 650,000 was spent on fuel in six months till mid-January. The DDC office has a Bolero jeep (Ba 1 Jha 5489) in its name and also jointly uses a Nissan pick-up (Ba 1 Jha 8433) of Rural Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project. It also has a motorcycle and a tractor that remain mostly unused.

The project that jointly pays for the pick-up´s fuel has meanwhile paid just Rs 68,000 for the pick-up and four motorcycles in the same period. “If the rampant misuse of fuel is controlled, the office can save enough money to buy a vehicle every year,” an official at the DDC claimed.
