BANEPA, Sept 8 : Over 300 people have taken ill after attending a social feast held at Panchkhal municipality in Kavrepalanchowk.
The Swabalamban Multi Purpose Cooperatives based in Kanskot and Panchakhal municipality had organised the feast on the occasion of the upcoming Teej festival, the festival of Hindu women. The feast is called as 'dar' in the Nepali society.
41 people fall ill after a feast
One of the attendants Geeta Khanal said some are bed-ridden; some have been hospitalized while some are being taken to health facilities.
"We prepared the meal together and ate it together.
"Rice, grains, paneer curry and pickle made of radish were in the foods," said Dev Kumari Bhetwal of Panchkhal-9.
Municipality mayor Mahesh Kharel said health camps have been set up to render services to the ill.
"Over 300 have fallen ill. Some have been sent to Banepa and Dhulikhel for treatment while remaining are being treated at the primary health centers and newly setup health camps." Health workers from the Dhulikhel Hospital are providing medical services to them.
