KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Dalit rights activists have expressed dissatisfaction with the government and the main opposition Nepali Congress for not paying attention to eliminate the caste-based system in the Nepali society even though the Constitution has envisaged uprooting the system.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday, Joint Political Struggle Committee for Dalit Rights accused the governing party and the main opposition of failing to ensure the rights of marginalized Dalits enshrined in the Constitution.

The committee said that it would be compelled to launch an agitation if the government and the main opposition failed to ensure the Constitutionally-guaranteed Dalit rights.

"It is disappointing to note that none of the provisions relating to Dalit rights guaranteed by the Constitution have been implemented so far," Coordinator of the committee Rajkumar Hingmang told media persons. The committee has urged one and all to support its agitation.
