“This proposal has got top priority as Member Secretary Lama made the suggestion during a public function,” Dahal said during a function organized to award national football team captain Sagar Thapa with an apartment on Friday.
“I will request our two giant neighbors to support us in constructing an international stadium and covered halls in the districts,” he added.
Dahal was responding to Lama´s suggestion that the country needed a football stadium of 50,000 capacity, a 35,000-capacity cricket stadium and semi-covered halls in all 240 electoral constituencies for the transformation of the sports sector in the country.

According to Lama, the estimated cost for construction of covered halls and playing grounds in the 240 electoral constituencies is Rs 1.8 billion.
Dahal said that Nepali players were lagging behind in the international arena despite possessing talent due to lack of physical infrastructure.
“I have seen it everywhere, from the east to the west and from the hills to the plains, that the one thing we lack is physical infrastructure,” said Dahal.
Dahal assured that the country would move toward overall progress after the Constituent Assembly elections. He also pointed out the need for all stakeholders to join forces for the development of the country.
