BAGLUNG, May 10: A candidate contesting for the post of chairman of Bareng Rural Municipality has been attacked with a bottle on Wednesday in Bareng Rural Municipality.
Pradip Thapa Magar of Bareng-2, Barahkot, who is the candidate for the post of chairman jointly fielded by Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center), was attacked with a bottle at Chautara on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the assailant is Ratan Kala Thapa, a cadre of CPN (Maoist Center). Thapa fled immediately after hitting Pradip with the bottle while he was taking part in the election campaign.
Pradip has sustained minor injuries to his head in the attack.

A team of 25 security personnel led by Police Inspector Hari Pun has been deployed in the incident site to investigate the incident, said DSP Anil Kumar Khadka.
Police are investigating the case, said SP Chandra Kuber Khapung, chief of Baglung District Police Office.
According to the electoral alliance forged between Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center), Pradip Thapa is contesting elections for the post of chairman from CPN (MC) while Bishnu Basnet Chhetri for the post of vice chairman from NC.
Injured Pradip is the son of former politburo member of the CPN (MC) Lila Bahadur Thapa.
Earlier, CPN (MC) had decided to filed Pradip for the post of chairman and Chinimaya Kala Magar vice chairman of Bareng Rural Municipality.
Chinimaya is contesting for the post of vice chairman as an independent candidate after she was denied the candidacy by the party.
The district level leaders of the CPN (MC) have directed its cadres to cast votes for Chinimaya in the upcoming local level elections .
