CPN (Maoist) leader Gaurav arrested in Parsa

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Chandra Prakash (CP) Gajurel aka ‘Gaurav’, the general secretary of the underground CPN (Maoist) faction, was arrested by police in Parsa on charges related to bombings in Jhapa and Kailali.

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Chandra Prakash (CP) Gajurel aka ‘Gaurav’, the general secretary of the underground CPN (Maoist) faction, was arrested by police in Parsa on charges related to bombings in Jhapa and Kailali. He was apprehended while allegedly collecting extortion money from local traders in Birgunj. Police sources confirmed that Gaurav was arrested while he was extorting a businessman in Parsa.



Gaurav's faction, operating covertly, is accused of carrying out bomb attacks in Jhapa and Kailali. Authorities have detained several of his associates, though only one other individual remains in custody.

Police have declined to provide further details regarding Gaurav’s arrest or the ongoing investigation into his group’s activities.
