KATHMANDU, March 9: The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has decided to hold talks with the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) on the possibility of formation of a new coalition government.

A meeting of the party's Standing Committee held at Parisdanda in the capital on Tuesday made a decision to this effect, according to Narayan Kaji Shrestha, spokesperson for the party.

"We will hold talks with the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party on the formation of the new government by forming an alliance with them," he said.

It was the party's first ever meeting after the Supreme Court scrapped the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) registered in the name of KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, giving the party to little-known Rishi Kattel who had registered Nepal Communist Party at the Election Commission much before the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was registered in the names of Oli and Dahal in May 2018.

The apex court also invalidated the unification between the two communist parties.
