SSP Bijaya Lal Kayastha, chief at Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) said, “We are investigating the case but have yet to find a lead.”
“The way we found the bodies, it seems like it was a well planned murder. But the real motive behind the murder is yet to be established,” SSP Kayastha said. [break]
The husband has been identified as Netra Bahadur Khadka, 31, of Phulasahi-9 in Ramechap and the wife as Kalpana Khadka, 35, from the same district.
According to the couple´s landlord, Maiya Maharjan, they were last seen on Sunday evening.
“The room was locked from outside, so we thought that the couple was out for some religious purpose or visiting their family. Only on Monday evening did we know that they were out of contact since Sunday,” she added.
Kalpana´s brother, who works as a security guard, came to the victim´s room searching for them after his sister didn´t answer the phone and his brother-in-laws mobile was dead for long.
“When we called Kalpana´s mobile from outside the rented room, we heard the ring tone coming from inside. That´s when we decided to break the ventilation glass attached to the door,” Maharjan informed. “To our surprise, we saw both of them lying dead in the room. We called the police immediately.”
According to Inspector Manjil Mukarung of Metrpolitan Police Range´s Office, both of them were stabbed to death.
The husband´s body has sustained deep injuries in the back, both the hands and his innards were taken our and left scattered on the floor. The wife, meanwhile, had sharp injuries to the neck, according to inspector Mukarung.
The police have recovered a blood-stained Khukuri knife, Rs 16000 and a land ownership certificate from the room.
According to the police sources, their couple´s murder might have to do with the property they owned. The couple had no children, according to the family sources.
