Cooperatives investing loans for self-employment programs

PANCHTHAR, April 13: Three cooperative organizations in Panchthar district are likely to invest Rs 12.5 million in loan for youth self-employment program in the district.



The cooperatives were selected to invest loans to help the unemployed youths towards self-employment. selected cooperatives have been provided with Rs 30 million in the first phase to start the programs. [break]



Phidim-based Hatemalo Multipurpose Cooperative, Kurumba Agriculture Cooperative of Kurumba VDC and Garima Agriculture Cooperative of Ektin VDC had signed separate deals to make investments.



The Hatemalo Multipurpose Cooperative had signed the highest amount of bid Rs 5 million, highest among the three cooperatives.



Secretary of Hatemalo Surya Niraula said 20 youths have been provided with loan in the first phase for cow rearing, vegetable farming and some others purposes.

Kurumba Cooperative has signed a deal for Rs 4 million while Garima Cooperative for Rs 3.5 million.



Most of the youths are provided loans for rearing goat and pigs. The cooperatives have charged 12 percent interest rate and people from 1r5 to 50 have gotten the loan.
