Constitution amendment bid endorsed by two-third majority

KATHMANDU: The sixth amendment to the interim constitution was endorsed by a two-third majority in the legislative parliament on Thursday.



In the proposal, tabled by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dev Gurung, 424 votes were polled, while no votes were polled against it.

The interim constitution was amended ahead of the by-election of the Constituent Assembly (CA). According to the amendment, those persons who reached 18 years by the end of April 10 last year are legally entitled to cast a vote during the by-election, yet to be scheduled for six constituencies.


The next meeting of the CA in the capacity of the Legislative Parliament has been scheduled for December 14.
