They expressed such views during a meeting with members of the secretariat under the Special Committee who are on a visit to the cantonment to learn about the combatants´ views on integration and rehabilitation.
“The combatants also said they want a respectful integration,” Dipak Prakash Bhatta, member of the secretariat, told Republica.[break]
During the visit, members of the 12-member secretariat distributed code of conduct and directives regarding command and control of the PLA fighters, which will come into effect once the combatants are brought under the control of the committee.
Bhatta also quoted Maoist representative in the secretariat Chandra Prakash Khanal “Baldev” as saying that a similar mechanism could be formed at the lower levels to sort out integration issues even after the departure of UNMIN.
Baldev could not be reached for comments.
Meanwhile, our Chitwan correspondent reported that Baldev said the secretariat was ready to shoulder the responsibility of integration and rehabilitation after the exit of UNMIN.
