BHADRAPUR, Jan. 27: Daily life in the eastern Tarai has again been hit hard after another wave of cold spell lashed the region since the past week.

Dense fog since the early morning and cold wave throughout the day has forced people in Jhapa to stay indoors.

This is the second round of the cold wave spell after the first round of severe cold that had ended following an improvement in the weather in the second week of this month.

A significant number of people have been visiting local health centres with complaints of cough and common cold since the past few days. Children and the old-aged are the most affected, according to records at the District Public Health Office.

The number of service recipients flocking to the district headquarters Bhadrapur has also gone down while the markets look deserted until noon.

The re-arrival of the cold wave will continue its impact on the potato farming in around 12,000 hectares of land in the district, says the District Agriculture Development Office.
