KATHMANDU, March 4: After Surendra Pandey, vice chairman of the CPN-UML, said on social media that the government will change today, it has become clear that the current ruling coalition government has collapsed.

After Pandey said that the government will be changed and a new Cabinet will also be formed today, the parties including the Nepali Congress are holding separate discussions.

The Nepali Congress has called an office-bearers’ meeting while the CPN-UML also called a secretariat meeting in the morning. The UML secretariat meeting also concluded that it is ready to move forward in a new way if the current alliance is dissolved.

Shortly after the UML meeting, discussions between UML Chairman Oli and Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut commenced in Balkot.

Ramkrishna Bajgai, Oli's press coordinator, stated that discussions between Oli and Raut regarding the latest political developments are ongoing. If an agreement is reached between the two parties, there is a possibility of the Janmat Party joining the new government.

A meeting of the Janata Samajwadi Party is continuing, while the Rastriya Swatantra Party has assigned its Chairman Rabi Lamichhane to decide on the political situation.

Ameeting of the ruling coalition was said to be held this morning, but the meeting was postponed due to a lack of dialogue.

According to the source, the office-bearers’ meeting of the Maoist Center held in Baluwatar this morning decided to recall all the ministers in the current government and decided to form a new small Council of Ministers today.

There is an increased possibility that CPN-UML, RSP, and JSP will join the government along with the Maoist Center. However, it has not been decided who will participate in the cabinet.

It is understood that there is a possibility that Padam Giri may represent the  government from the UML, while Swarnim Wagle may represent the government from the RSP.

A government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal was formed on December 25, 2022 in collaboration with the Nepali Congress.
