The sub-committee held an interaction with the Joint- Secretaries in the capital on Sunday and discussed the problem of Badi women and children and urged the government to implement the agreement reached by the government with Badi community in the past.
On the occasion, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bhola Prasad Shibakoti shed light on some points implemented by the government´s side and said that around 772 persons were provided with the citizenship as per the agreement and will provide others on the basis of their surname and lineage immediately.
Similarly, Joint Secretary at Education Ministry, Diwaker Dhungel said the programmes for Dalit community rights addressed the rights of Badi community although the Education Ministry did not have special package for the Badi community.
Lawmaker and Coordinator of the committee Binod Pahadi urged the Education Ministry to collect the data about Badi students and their educational status.
