Thapa said she will join hands with Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut in his campaign, ‘Save Daughter, Educate Daughter,’ to end the discrimination between daughter and sons.
She is hopeful that this sort of campaign will help transform the society which is already plagued by gender discrimination.
“We will launch door-to-door campaign creating awareness about existing social ills such as gender discrimination and child marriage,” said Thapa. As a cine artist, I put efforts to end such social disparities and discrimination through movies but it did not work out. So I have now decided to launch this campaign at ground level to achieve the goal.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Raut claimed that he has allocated 50 percent quotas in the Nepal Police in Province 2 as part of his campaign.
With the announcement of this campaign, many families in the society have already started to open bank accounts for their newborns and depositing money, said Raut, expressing confidence that the society will transform in the near future.
