CIB nabs UML ex-CA member in connection with Alam's murder

KATHMANDU, Oct 27: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police nabbed CPN-UML Bara district leader and former Constituent Assembly (CA) member Ram Chandra Pyasi Kushbah in connection with murder of UML candidate from Bara-4 Mohammud Alam, on Saturday evening.



Kushbah,a native of Banjariya-8 of the district, had served as CA member from UML in the last CA. He was elected through Proportional Representation Electoral System.[break]



According to security sources, Kushbah, an aspirant of the first-past the-post (FPTP) candidate from the constituency No.4 of the district, hatched conspiracy to kill Alam after former failed to acquire the election ticket.



Alam, who was shot at by unidentified men on October 4 at Chainpur Chowk along the Pathlaiya-Birgunj road, had died during the treatment on October 10.



Critically injured Alam was airlifted through Nepal Army helicopter to Kathmandu for treatment.



Doctors attending him at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital had declared him dead after his heart stopped functioning.



Deceased Alam was travelling to his hometown from Kathmandu a day after his party fielded his candidacy under FPTP electoral system.
