Chitwan police asks farmers to take permission before going out

KATHMANDU, April 19: Chitwan District Police Office (DPO) has urged farmers who need to travel outside their homes for absolutely essential works to take prior permission so as to make the lockdown effective and avoid unnecessary hassles during travel.

KATHMANDU, April 19: Chitwan District Police Office (DPO) has urged farmers who need to travel outside their homes for absolutely essential works to take prior permission so as to make the lockdown effective and avoid unnecessary hassles during travel.


Chief of Chitwan District Police Office SP Nanteeraj Gurung made the request to farmers in order to help reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus as the number of people tested positive for this fatal virus is on the rise inside the country.

Earlier, police had allowed farmers to carry various agricultural activities, like beekeeping, animal husbandry, fish farming and banana farming in the district.  But with the rising number of COVID-19 cases in different parts of the country, DPO, Chitwan urged farmers to take prior permission if they need to move workers and transport pesticides and veterinary drugs. 


In a press statement, police asked farmers to directly contact police control rooms (056-520155, 524241, 9855090133) with the details of works and intended place and time of visit. Police clarified that those travelling outside home would be strictly prohibited.


The DPO, Chitwan, has also asked all the concerned to directly report to the chief of DPO, Chitwan if there are any complaints regarding the behavior of police on duty. This request comes in the wake of a number of incidents in which police personnel on duty were involved in a number of incidents in the name of enforcing lockdown in various parts of the country.
