Chinese delegation, Nepali lawmakers meet

KATHMANDU, April 5: A visiting high-level Chinese delegation held discussions with women members of the Constituent Assembly here on Thursday.



The delegation led by Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People´s Congress of the People´s Republic of China, Ms. Chen Zhili, briefed about the participation of women in different government bodies in China. [break]



It is said that a total of 40 per cent women are in government service in China.



Vice-chairwoman of the Constituent Assembly, Purna Kumari Subedi, led the team of Nepali women lawmakers in the discussion.



Quoting the Chinese delegation, Joint-secretary at the Parliament Secretariat, Bharat Gautam said that the Chinese delegation remarked that empowerment process of Nepali women has been gradually and satisfactorily moving forward.



During the discussion, stress was laid on the need of both countries to coordinate on achieving women empowerment.
