Child drowns in Lal Bakaiya River

RAUTAHAT, Aug 22: A child has drowned in the Lal Bakaiya River in Rautahat on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Shekh Itak Alam of Sapgadha Tole, Gaur Municipality- 10.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 22: A child has drowned in the Lal Bakaiya River in Rautahat on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Shekh Itak Alam of Sapgadha Tole, Gaur Municipality- 10.


He had gone to take bath in the river. He was drawn to the deeper part of the river and could not swim back to the bank, according to District Police Office (DPO), Rautahat. “Children had gone to the river to escape the heat,” police said.

It is learnt that Alam’s friends screamed for help after he was caught in the river current, said spokesperson at police office deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Nabin Krishna Bhandari.


He was rescued by locals and rushed to the District Hospital at Gaur. He breathed his last on the way to the hospital.
