KATHMANDU, June 11: Former national cricketer and current Level 3 coach Dipendra Chaudhary has been roped in as the head coach of Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) for the season 2018/19. The former top-order batsman served Nepal for 13 years playing a key role in establishing Nepal in world cricket hierarchy in the last decade. Chaudhary then took a Level 3 coaching from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after retirement.

Chaudhary’s international stint was with South Korea’s national women team during the Asian Games in 2014. He is part of the setup led by team-mate and U-19 head coach Binod Das taking the mettle of Nepal’s national age-level teams. Chaudhary also has the invaluable experience of assisting former Nepal head coach Pubudu Dassanayake during ACC Trophy and World Cup Qualifiers. He also had stints with domestic franchise teams Biratnagar Kings in Dhangadhi Premier League, also hosted by DCA and Chitwan Tigers in Everest Premier League.
Subash Shahi, the president of DCA, was ecstatic about the acquisition of such an esteemed coach for the region. “His experience will be huge for the local players from Dhangadhi. We are already planning some foreign tours to take full advantage of this opportunity,” said Shahi. The deal runs for one year. There are 10 regular and 25 scholarship students’ affiliated with the Dhangadhi based cricket academy.
