England based website Talksport, which had earlier reported that Arsenal and Tottenham were after the Nepali teenage star, on Thursday said that the English Premiere League clubs will now be facing competition from their French rival Lille. [break]
The website says that the French champion now appears to be in pole position to sign Chand due to tighter restrictions on non-EU players in the UK. The rules are more relaxed in France, making a move a much easier option.
Scouts from both north London clubs and Lille have been monitoring the 19-year-old, who plays for Indian First Division club Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Talksports describes Chand as one of the hottest prospects in Asian football who is keen to make a name for himself in European football.
The Nepali international has been tipped to play at the highest level by former Spurs skipper Graham Roberts, who is currently the coach of Nepali national football team.
Meanwhile, Chand told Republica that he is unaware about the rumors but is pleased to hear the news of his move to European clubs.
“I don´t know anything about the news but I feel glad that my name is linked with the European clubs,” he said.
