KATHMANDU, May 7: The Central Security Committee, chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, convened today to discuss recent developments in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, and their potential implications for Nepal's security.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), the meeting decided to enhance surveillance in sensitive areas, particularly along the Nepal-India border and at major airports.
Speaking after the meeting, MoHA Spokesperson Ramchandra Tiwari said one of the key decisions was to place Nepal’s security apparatus on high alert. "The meeting also addressed the safety and security of Nepali nationals residing in India and Pakistan, given the rising tension in the region," said Tiwari.
Other issues discussed included strengthening internal security mechanisms, enhancing coordination and information sharing among security agencies, and ensuring preparedness for any potential fallout from the regional conflict, he added.
