Census team misses Rautahat village

RAUTAHAT, June 23: The first phase of Census 2011 has left out a village of Rautahat district.



Local people of Ward No 8 of Santapur VDC couldn’t provide their details as no Census team came to the VDC to collect their information.[break]



Villagers said no a single supervisor came to their ward, a home to 27 households, in the first phase of the census. “Enumerators didn’t collect our details,” said a local resident of the ward, Khadga Raj Giri.



Meanwhile, local residents of Aariya said enumerators met some villagers and collected information about people of the entire village.



The Census team was supposed to visit every home and register names and other information.



In the first phase, 121 supervisors were deployed in Rautahat.



RSS’ efforts to contact Rautahat Census Office chief Nageshwor Nayak for comment on the matter went in vain.



The Central Bureau of Statistics estimates the population of Rautahat to be 685,281.
