MAKWANPUR, Aug 15: A case has been filed against the Asian Paints Industry on the charge of violating the standards of metrology and relevant laws in the country. The case was filed today at the District Court, Hetauda against the industry based at the Hetauda Industrial Zone.

The case was filed by the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology Regional Office in Birgunj. The industry was found to have not acquired the permission for the weighing machine that it was using, according to chief of the Office Sashi Bhusan Yadav.
In the case, the Office has sought a one years of imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 in fine. Likewise, the office has also found more than a dozen fuel stations operating in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat and Makwanpur districts flouting the rules and cheating customers. Action has been taken against them as provided in the law, the Office said.
