Lalitpur: With the election date for the House of Representatives and State Assemblies coming near, the candidates and cadres of Lalitpur constituency-1 are busy in poll publicity to win hearts of voters.
Leaders of major political parties have intensified their voter door-to-door visit programme when there is only two weeks to go for the election here.
Candidates are reaching out to the houses of the voters no matter how far the area is. Geographically, the constituency has highly covered rural area which is far-flung and not accessible.

In the rural areas, voters have raised the problems of transport facilities, water, fertilizers and seeds, among others. Candidates have also pledged to take initiatives for resolving the key problems.
Minister of State for Finance Udaya Shumsher Rana is the candidate from Nepali Congress in the constituency. Earlier too, he had won the Constituent Assembly election from this constituency. Young leader Rana was the ex-President of Tarun Dal the youth wing of the Nepali Congress.
Likewise, Nawaraj Silwal is the candidate for the House of Representatives from the same electoral area. Silwal was the ex-Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Towards provincial member, NC has fielded Rishiram Ghimire from Province (A) and Min Krishna Maharjan from province (B). The left alliance has presented Lal Kumari Pun from province (A) and Chetnath Sanjel of the Maoist Centre from province (B). Likewise, Bibeksheel Saajha Party has fielded Keshab Timilsina as a candidate for the House of Representatives.
NC candidate Rana said that the development works he did during four of his past tenure are the solid base for his victory now. "My election agenda is physical infrastructure development and economic prosperity", he noted.
