Nepal will play against Italy, Oman, Uganda, the USA and the host Bermuda in the Division 3 tournament, scheduled for April 28 to May 5.[break]
Sawad and BK had withdrawn their names from the squad during the ACC Trophy Elite 2012, the last 50-over international tournament Nepal had participated in, citing injuries.
Sawad had played in the ACC T20 Cup that concluded in Kathmandu earlier this month, while BK was included as a reserve player.
Former skipper and medium-pacer Binod Das and Bhuwan Karki, who were in the squad during the ACC Trophy Elite, have been left out of the squad for Division 3. Likewise, Manjeet Shrestha, who was included in the T20 team, has been dropped from the 50-over format.
Paras Khadka and Gyanendra Malla have retained their positions as captain and vice-captain of the national team respectively. Sharad Vesawkar, Amrit Bhattarai, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Sanjam Regmi, Binod Bhandari, Pradeep Airee, Anil Mandal, Prithu Baskota and Subash Khakurel are the other members of the squad.
Sagar Pun, who had replaced Mandal in the team midway through the ACC T20, has been included as a reserve player for Division 3. Naresh Bahadur Budhaayer, Jitendra Kumar Mukhiya and Ram Naresh Giri are the other reserve players in the team.
The top two teams of Division 3 will not only earn promotion to Division 2 but also progress to the World Cup Qualifier 2014.
Nepal had reached Division 3 after winning the Division 4 tournament held in Malaysia in September 2012. Nepal had won all its matches in Division 4 and defeated the USA in the final.
Practice matches in India
Meanwhile, the national squad, comprising 14 players and 3 officials, is all set to fly to Jaipur, India on Saturday for practice matches and training sessions. The team will return to Kathmandu on April 20.
According to captain Khadka, Nepali team will play four practice matches against local teams of Jaipur. "Coach (Pubudu Dassanayake) has arranged the Jaipur tour and we hope that we will get to play against quality players in the practice matches," said Khadka.
The national squad will leave for Bermuda on April 23.
