KATHMANDU, May 5: The ban imposed on Cricketer Mohammad Aadil Alam has been lifted. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) lifted the ban on him on Monday, which had prevented him from playing in national and international competitions.
The ban was imposed by CAN under the Anti-Corruption Code after he was found guilty of spot-fixing during the Nepal T20 Cricket League held in Kathmandu from December 24 to 11, 2023.
Alam has been framed, argues Alam's lawyer Raman Shrestha
CAN Spokesperson Chumbi Lama issued a statement mentioning that all the restrictions imposed on Adil Alam have been lifted starting from Monday. According to the report submitted by CAN's Integrity Unit after the necessary investigation, the lifting of the ban is mentioned in the statement.
Medium-paced bowler Adil is also considered good in aggressive batting and fielding. Having played in international competitions for the national team, Alam now has the opportunity to return to the national team with CAN's decision.
Adil and Mehboob Alam had been acquitted by the Kathmandu District Court on March 26, 2024. They had been charged with various allegations by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), which had filed a case against them.
