CAN Info-Tech 2009 ends

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: The 15th Logitech CAN Info-Tech 2009 being held at the Exhibition Hall, Bhrikuti Mandap ended on Monday. According to the organizers, 463,620 people visited the six-day fair which was shifted this year to the new location from the International Convention Center, New Baneshwar. [break]



Talking to myrepublica.com, Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) General Secretary Binod Dhakal called the event a success. "Not only did we get a record number of visitors, both exhibitors and visitors expressed satisfaction in the feedback interviews we took with them," he said.



Among the previous CAN Info-Techs, the 2008 edition was seen by 350,000 visitors while 300,000 attended the 2007 technological fair. The annual event started in 1995 at the then Hotel Bluestar as a three-day fair with17 stalls, and there were 2,100 visiting. The event was held at Bluestar until 2000 when a day was added. According to CAN, the fair had 44 stalls then and was visited by 61,800 people. CAN organized the event at the then Birendra International Convention Center from 2001 when it was visited by 120,700 people and had 76 stalls.



Dhakal said that a technology fair is scheduled to be held in Butwal from Jan 29 and in Hetauda from Feb 5.
