KATHMANDU, Sept 25: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has prepared to ban Korean Air flights.

According to the CAAN, it has prepared to impose a ban on Korean Air flights as despite Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC)'s months-long efforts to initiate the process for regular flights in Korea, various Korean authorities have caused delays on the flights on various pretexts.

An employee of CAAN shared in a conversation with Republica that the Korea Office of Civil Aviation (KOCA) has not granted flight permission for NAC's aircraft for years, citing multiple excuses. "Our nation's aircraft stand ready for flights to Korea for months. CAAN has decided to impose a ban as the NAC's flight schedule has remained unconfirmed despite repeated discussions," he added. "Their whimsical decisions are no longer acceptable to us. NAC’s aircraft should be permitted to fly."

Since the tickets for the summer schedule have already been sold, it is not possible to ban the flights right now. However CAAN has already sent a letter to Universal Travel and Tours, the general sales agent for Nepal of Korean Air, asking the latter not to sell winter tickets.
