With Nepali Congress and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) submitting their lists on Sunday, the CA secretariat has received lists from all the 25 parties. The CA meeting scheduled at 3 p.m. Monday will announce the formation of the committees, paving the way for kick-starting the much-awaited statute-drafting process, said Mukunda Sharma, spokesperson at the secretariat.
CA Chair Subas Nembang said the CA will start statute drafting process on Tuesday.
Most of the parties have included their senior leaders in the list for Constitutional Committee, which is responsible for drafting the new statute for the Republic of Nepal.
CPN (Maoist) has included Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Post Bahadur Bogati, Khim Lal Devkota and Jaya Puri Gharti, among others, in the Constitutional Committee.
Nepali Congress has included names of party President Girija Prasad Koirala, former Chief Justice Bishwa Nath Upadhyay, Vice-Presidents Ram Chandra Poudel and Prakash Man Singh and General Secretaries KB Gurung and Bimalendra Nidhi in this committee.
CPN-UML has given name of Surendra Pandey, Radha Gyawali, Sapana Malla Pradhan, Pasang Sherpa and Rijwan Ansari, among others, for the committee while MPRF has recommended party Chair Upendra Yadav, Bijay Gachchhadar, Sarat Singh Bhandari and Ram Janam Choudhari.
NC has assigned former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to work in a committee for determining structure of constitutional bodies and Vice-President Gopal Man Shrestha to work in the state restructuring committee. Party’s Chief Whip Laxman Ghimire will work for the committee for sharing of financial and natural resources and revenue.
